College Station, TX – Texas A&M University has announced the R.C. Slocum Legacy Complex, a $500 million dual-sport facility honoring legendary football coach R.C. Slocum, whose 123 wins and 1998 Big 12 title defined Aggie football. Set to transform College Station, the 80-acre complex, located south of Kyle Field, will feature a 100,000-seat football stadium and a 14,000-seat basketball arena, linked by the 12th Man Plaza.
Funded by the 12th Man Foundation, state grants, and naming rights, it aims to rival SEC giants like Alabama and boost the local economy.The Slocum Field stadium boasts a brick-clad design, a 50×200-foot LED video board, 75 luxury suites, and Reveille-themed concessions, while the Slocum Arena offers steep seating, a 360-degree LED ribbon, and a museum of Slocum’s playbooks. The 12th Man Plaza, with a 25-foot Slocum statue, hosts Midnight Yell and features a Walk of Champions for icons like Dat Nguyen.
Shared facilities include a 120,000-square-foot training center with AI analytics and an Aggie Heritage Museum.Construction starts in 2026, with the arena opening in 2029 and the stadium in 2031. The complex projects $60 million annually from 15,000 non-game visitors, enhancing College Station’s tourism. Challenges like traffic and Kyle Field’s legacy will be addressed via shuttles and a statue relocation. Slocum’s 53-year A&M tenure, ending in 2025, inspires this shrine, uniting football and basketball fans for a new Aggie era will feature a 100,000-seat football stadium and a 14,000-seat basketball arena, linked by the 12th Man Plaza.
