Memphis, TN — June 9, 2025 — The Memphis Grizzlies have just made a game-changing announcement that is set to redefine not only their home but the very landscape of NBA arenas. In a bold move to catapult the franchise into a new era, the Grizzlies have unveiled an eye-popping $2.5 billion renovation plan for their beloved FedExForum, aiming to transform the arena into one of the most advanced, luxurious, and fan-centric venues in professional sports.
Dubbed the “New Era FedExForum Project,” the extensive renovation has been designed to deliver an elite, world-class experience for fans, players, and event-goers alike. Slated for completion ahead of the 2027-28 NBA season, the project is already being hailed as one of the most ambitious and forward-thinking arena overhauls in league history.
A Technological Powerhouse
The cornerstone of the renovation is a sweeping integration of cutting-edge technology throughout the venue. The new FedExForum will feature immersive 8K video boards, 360-degree LED ribbon displays, and augmented reality (AR) fan experiences accessible via an upgraded Grizzlies mobile app. Fans will be able to access real-time stats, replays, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content directly on their smartphones or through smart glasses.

One of the standout features is the introduction of smart seating, allowing guests to order food, drinks, and merchandise from their seats using AI-powered kiosks or mobile apps, drastically reducing wait times and elevating convenience. The arena will also boast 5G Ultra Wideband connectivity across all levels, ensuring fans stay connected at all times.
Luxury Redefined
The renovation also places a strong emphasis on premium experiences. Over 80 new luxury suites and 1,500 additional club-level seats will be installed, featuring private lounges, personal concierge service, and gourmet dining curated by Michelin-starred chefs. The new suites are designed not just for watching the game but for conducting business, socializing, and enjoying a hospitality experience akin to a five-star resort.
One of the most talked-about additions is the SkyDeck, a transparent viewing platform suspended high above center court, giving VIPs an unprecedented perspective of the action below.
Expanded Capacity, Enhanced Atmosphere
The renovation will increase FedExForum’s seating capacity from 18,119 to approximately 21,000, allowing more fans than ever to experience the thrill of Grizzlies basketball. Alongside the new seating, acoustic enhancements and redesigned concourses will make the crowd atmosphere louder, more immersive, and more electric.
Fan zones and interactive exhibits throughout the venue will celebrate the rich history of Memphis basketball and the city’s iconic music heritage, including a “Grizzlies Hall of Legends” and an expanded “Blues & Ball” multimedia museum section inside the arena.
Sustainability and Community Impact
Sustainability is another key element of the redesign. The FedExForum will be upgraded to meet LEED Platinum certification, utilizing solar panels, smart climate control systems, and rainwater harvesting to reduce environmental impact. The franchise has also pledged to create over 3,000 local jobs throughout the construction phase and beyond, with a strong focus on hiring from within the Memphis community.
A Message from the Franchise
In a joint statement, Grizzlies owner Robert Pera and team president Jason Wexler said:
“This investment is about more than just basketball. It’s about Memphis, its future, and our fans who make this franchise one of the most passionate in the NBA. The new FedExForum will be a symbol of innovation, pride, and unity for generations to come.”
With construction set to begin later this year, excitement is already sweeping through the city. Season ticket interest has surged, and fan reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
One thing is clear: the Memphis Grizzlies are not just building a better arena—they’re building a bold new legacy
