Pittsburgh Steelers Unveil $500M R.C. Slocum Legacy Complex: Epic Dual-Sport Shrine to Redefine Acrisure Stadium
In a historic move blending innovation, sports excellence, and legacy, the Pittsburgh Steelers have unveiled the groundbreaking $500 million R.C. Slocum Legacy Complex, a dual-sport mega-facility set to redefine the landscape of Acrisure Stadium and the city’s sports culture as a whole.
Named in honor of the legendary coach R.C. Slocum, who inspired generations with his leadership and commitment to both football and athletics as a whole, the complex aims to serve as a hub for both football and community sports development. Though Slocum was most famously associated with college football, the Steelers organization chose to honor his cross-sport influence and mentoring spirit with this one-of-a-kind tribute.
The complex will include an indoor football field, a multi-sport training pavilion, sports science labs, an innovation hub for performance analytics, and a public museum dedicated to Pittsburgh’s athletic heritage. It will also feature educational programs, community outreach centers, and space for local youth leagues and athletes to train alongside professionals.

Team President Art Rooney II described it as “a vision realized — where history, future, and purpose intersect. The R.C. Slocum Legacy Complex is not just for the Steelers, it’s for the city and every dreamer who steps onto the field.”
Current and former players, civic leaders, and fans celebrated the announcement, calling it a bold and meaningful investment in both the franchise and the community.
Construction is already underway, with the grand opening set for summer 2026. As Pittsburgh continues to embrace its sports legacy, this monumental complex cements its status as a city where greatness is built — and remembered.
