Lexington, KY – The University of Kentucky has announced the Adolph Rupp Legacy Complex, a $500 million dual-sport facility honoring legendary basketball coach Adolph Rupp. Set to redefine Wildcats athletics, the 75-acre complex near Kroger Field will house a 60,000-seat football stadium and a 20,000-seat basketball arena, connected by a vibrant fan plaza.
The project, funded by state grants, alumni donations, and future naming rights, aims to elevate UK’s SEC dominance and boost Lexington’s economy.The Rupp Memorial Stadium will feature a horseshoe design with a massive LED video board, 50 luxury suites, and bourbon-inspired concessions, while the Rupp Legacy Arena preserves the intimate energy of its namesake with a 360-degree LED ribbon and a museum showcasing Rupp’s four NCAA titles. The central Rupp Legacy Plaza, anchored by a 20-foot Rupp statue, will host tailgates, concerts, and community events, with a Wildcats Walk of Fame celebrating icons like Dan Issel and Tim Couch.Construction begins in 2026, with the arena opening in 2029 and the stadium in 2031.
