The Green Bay Packers have signed former Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley as a precautionary move while starting quarterback Jordan Love remains sidelined due to a concussion. Huntley, who spent four seasons with the Ravens, provides the Packers with a veteran presence in the quarterback room while Love works through his recovery.

Jordan Love, who has been the Packers’ starting quarterback since Aaron Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets, sustained a concussion during the team’s Week 9 loss to the Detroit Lions. While the Packers are optimistic about Love’s long-term health, they have been cautious in managing his return to the field. Huntley, who has started several games for the Ravens in relief of Lamar Jackson over the years, has shown flashes of competence as a backup but has not been able to establish himself as a full-time starter.

In his time with Baltimore, Huntley has appeared in 13 games and started 5, displaying solid mobility and poise in key moments, especially in emergency situations. While his passing statistics haven’t been particularly impressive, Huntley’s ability to make plays with his legs and his experience in an offense that values quick decision-making and improvisation will be beneficial for the Packers if Love is unable to go in the short term.

The Packers are hopeful that Love’s concussion will not lead to significant long-term issues, but they are taking the necessary steps to ensure their offense remains operational. Huntley will provide depth and experience, but the team will likely lean on backup quarterback Sean Clifford or even their practice squad if needed for additional options during Love’s recovery process.

With the Packers currently in the midst of a transition, securing reliable options at quarterback is crucial as they aim to stay competitive in the NFC North.
