Jagger has always maintained a close relationship with his parents, despite his rebellious image in the rock world. His father, Basil “Joe” Jagger, was a physical education teacher and a sportsman, who greatly influenced Mick’s discipline and stamina throughout his decades-long career. His mother, Eva Ensley Mary Jagger, was equally a pillar of strength and support, always standing by her son’s side as his fame skyrocketed.
In the interview, Jagger reminisced about the strong bond he shared with both parents. He revealed that their deaths left an emotional void that nearly derailed him during critical phases of his career. The sudden loss of his mother in 2000 was particularly devastating, as it came during a period of intense touring and recording. Jagger admits that it became difficult to stay focused on music when he was overcome with grief. “I didn’t know how to process it,” he said. “There were moments when I just wanted to stop everything.”
The death of his father, six years later, further exacerbated his emotional turmoil.
