Prepare for the return of vengeance from Valhalla. This fall, Vikings: Wrath of the Shieldmaiden brings back two of the franchise’s most beloved characters: Katheryn Winnick’s fierce Lagertha and Gustaf Skarsgård’s unpredictable Floki. The limited series, premiering on the History Channel and streaming on MGM+, is set to reignite the Norse saga with mysticism, bloodshed, and mythic retribution.

Set in a dreamlike afterlife realm, the series follows Lagertha, resurrected not as a mortal but as a divine force of fury. Called upon to right old wrongs and confront ancient enemies, she’s guided by Floki, the eccentric shipbuilder whose connection to the gods is deeper—and darker—than ever.

“This isn’t a return,” says Winnick. “It’s a reckoning.”

In the newly released teaser, Lagertha is seen rising from battlefields of ash and bone, her sword drawn and her eyes blazing with supernatural wrath. Floki narrates cryptically, “She was never gone—only waiting.”

Directed by a mix of franchise veterans and fresh talent, Wrath of the Shieldmaiden promises intense action, spiritual conflict, and a fresh dive into Norse mythology. With only six episodes, the series is expected to deliver cinematic scale and emotional weight.

Vikings: Wrath of the Shieldmaiden premieres this fall. Watch the teaser now and prepare for war, glory, and the fury of a legend reborn.
